Utilities Kingston Water Conservation Garden 2

Design & Installation: Stone & Maple 2013
Utilities Kingston Water Treatment Plant, King Street

We were contracted to bring a water conservation display garden to another Utilities Kingston location, this one closer to the downtown core in Kingston. The original garden had fallen into disrepair and there was little to save. The building itself possesses such beautiful architectural detail that we wanted to enhance the lines and ensure the new garden blended harmoniously with the neighbourhood. The soil was amended with Gro-Max and mulched with Gro-Bark live mulch and the plants have flourished. Plants had to be both drought and salt tolerant, and low maintenance. Mass plantings of grasses and perennials in this garden include panicum "Shenandoah", calamagrostis "Overdam", calamagrostis "Karl Foester", perovskia "Little Spire, geranium "Biokova", echinacea, rudbeckia, sedums, hostas, and nepeta "Walker's Low".
