Every January, the frozen surface of Houghton Lake hosts one of Michigan’s most beloved winter festivals — Tip-Up Town USA. Celebrating over 75 years of winter magic, this iconic festival brings together locals and visitors for a weekend filled with fishing, music, snowmobiles, and good old-fashioned northern fun.

The name “Tip-Up Town” comes from the classic ice-fishing device — a tip-up — whose flag pops up when you get a fish on the line.
